OK, we did NOT see this Love Island twist coming.
But a load of fans are now speculating about a possible budding romance between a certain Caroline Flack… and contestant Dr Alex.
Yup; we’re as intrigued as anyone.
The 38-year-old TV presenter and Love Island host has been spending a bit of down-time in Ibiza at a resort called Casa Maca.
“An oasis of calm in the middle of crazy!” she wrote on Insta on Saturday while sharing a snap of her in the pool. “Thank you @casamacaibiza for the most gorgeous 3 days.”
Dr Alex George was quick in with a resulting compliment, commenting underneath the photo: “Looks dreamy.”
And plenty of fans in the aftermath are demanding to know whether it is the setting… or indeed, Caroline herself, who prompted his intriguing choice of wording.
However, while there seems to be lots of support for the duo getting together as a couple, somebody else chipped in with words of warning: “OMG I know you’re going through a tough time, but that comment from Dr Alex just made me vomit – stay away surely single is better than that!!!”
Alex has already admitted that he fancies Caroline: during a chat with Josh Denzel during the filming of Love Island, Alex was asked who his ideal woman was. Alex quickly responded: “Physically, a girl a bit like Caroline Flack.”
And the medic’s one-time Love Island love-interest Laura Crane revealed in a radio interview last week that Alex and Ms Flack would make a great couple as they get on “really well”.
Caroline recently split from her fiancé: last month Andrew Brady, 27, confirmed he was no longer in a relationship with the former I’m A Celeb co-presenter.
“Sad to announce Caroline and I have decided to part ways,” he wrote in his Insta Stories. “Unfortunately it was not meant to be and I wish her all the best in the future.”
Caroline also confirmed the news in a similarly-worded statement: “I’m sad to announce that Andrew and I have decided to part ways. Unfortunately it was not to be. I wish him all the best,” she said.
He proposed after just two months of dating. Caroline furthermore shared a public love-letter to Andrew in an edition of Cosmopolitan, saying she felt like she’d known him “her whole life.”
“I’ll never forget seeing you walk into the restaurant – tall, with a smile 10 miles wide, not just for me but for everyone in there,” she wrote of their first date.
“Talking to you was effortless. There were no first-date nerves – just two people laughing and getting to know each other until the early hours. It was how all first dates should be.”
