Someone get Drew a medal

During an interview on the popular podcast WTF with Marc Maron, Garfield recalled his experience with method acting, and he described his approach to playing a Jesuit priest in the 17th century in Silence.

“I did a bunch of spiritual practices every day, I created new rituals, I was celibate for six months and I was fasting a lot,” Garfield said.

“I’m kind of bothered by this idea that ‘method acting is f***ing bulls***’,: the 42-year-old actor said, adding, “No, I don’t think you know what method acting is if you’re calling it bulls***, or you just worked with someone who claims to be a method actor who isn’t actually acting the method at all.”

Commenting on the revelations in during an episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, the actor said she was pretty nonplussed about Garfield's disclosure.

When Ross Matthews, who co-hosts the “Drew’s News” segment with Barrymore, joked he “abstained” from sex “my entire twenties”, the Charlie’s Angel star quipped: “What’s wrong with me that six months doesn’t seem like a very long time? I was like, ‘Yeah so?’”

To which, Matthews replied: “We buried the lede there, that’s the headline. Drew can go six months, no big deal.”

Brava, Drew.

Her comments opened up a big debate on social media, with many pointing out that there is nothing wrong with not having sex all the time.

One user wrote:"Absolutely nothing is wrong with you @DrewBarrymore. I’ve never really had a high libido and sex isn’t something I really 'crave.' Also, I haven’t had a partner in several years, so there’s that. Can we stop sex shaming people? And this goes for all ends of the spectrum"

Meanwhile, some people online claimed that they would "I'd shrivel up and die" if they went without some hanky panky for more than two weeks.

Another added: "btw Drew... I gotcha beat !!!!!! I have gone longer than 6 months before. I haven't had sex in 7 years so don't feel bad. I'm gonna watch your ptp on cbs tomorrow evening streaming!! YAY [sic]"
