Elizabeth Berkley Thanks Fans for all the "Showgirls" Love
"Well, what would Nomi do?"
Twenty years ago, Saved by the Bell star Elizbeth Berkley shocked fans (young and old) when she starred in Showgirls.
The erotic drama was widely panned as one of the worst films of the decade, earning a then-record of seven Golden Raspberry Awards.
Over the years, however, the film has found its way to cult status with a legion of loyal fans.
Such a special full circle moment tonight at a very special screening for 4,000 #showgirls fans!#hollywoodforever When it first came out years ago, the sweetness of a premiere eluded me since it had been met with such disdain and controversy. Amazing how life works in mysterious ways. Thank you for the love you showed me tonight...I'm #grateful it has served you as your guilty pleasure and as your anthem to go after your dreams. Thank you for writing a new chapter to this story....??? Photo:@shindig9
On Saturday night, Elizabeth, who found fame as uptight Jessie Spano, attended a 20th anniversary outdoor screening of Showgirls at Cinespia's Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
In a lengthy speech, she thanked the 4,000 fans in attendance for giving her the reception she never received when the film was first released.
