Ellie Goulding has revealed that she will spend Christmas Eve volunteering at a homeless shelter.
The Burn singer held a special gig in London earlier this week to raise money for homeless charity Streets Of London and speaking at the event, she said she feels it’s important to give back.
''I'm volunteering all day at a shelter. I've done it for a few years. It's fun and part of the reason I run my gigs,” she said.
“It's not just people who are homeless in the shelters but also those who are lonely and don't have someone to spend time with. I was chatting to a guy last year who was a musician from Africa who had found himself homeless. The thought of someone not having a Christmas...''
After doing her duty, Goulding will spend Christmas with her family and boyfriend Dougie Poynter but says she never takes her position for granted.
''It's so scary because it happens so quickly and to anyone. It could be any of us. I was pretty much by myself in London. I had a room but not a family home - I had to go back if anything went wrong. My situation was a luxury.''
''I'm scarily hosting this year. I'm veggie and Dougie is veggie, so I'm in charge of desserts. A while ago, I got a new house so I'm finally going to move into it and will host it there.''
