They say never meet your heroes, but I’m glad I did.
I got to sit down and talk with Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley while they were promoting their upcoming Absolutely Fabulous Movie.
Usually, with movie interviews, it’s like a conveyor belt of journalists being brought from room to room to interview various people from a movie.
You’re allocated a specific amount of time with the stars and you literally get a second to say hello to the person you interview before the camera begins to roll. But from the set-up outside the Ab Fab interview room I knew this one was going to be different.
Set in the Soho Hotel in London, we were greeted by Ab Fab inspired food and drink while the soundtrack for the movie played in the background. They even had a green room prepared in another room where you could try out some of the props from the movie and pretend to be Patsy or Eddie.

We each took our turn to go into a perfectly set up room to interview Jennifer and Joanna.
Once I entered the suite where the two girls were my initial thoughts were confirmed. They greeted me with a massive “hello” and automatically started asking all about me, about Her.ie and went above and beyond to be nice.
Full of chats and giggles we spoke about the movie and how many amazing cameos it has. I also put them through a sort of Ms & Ms style quiz, or the ‘Absolute Game’ as I called it, where I got them to guess which one applied to a sentence I called out. For instance, which one of them was late more often on to set and who would be first up to the bar.
You never really know how some stars are going to act when you produce props with their faces on them but they loved it.
They were such heroes and will go down as the best interview I will ever do.

The movie comes out July 1st and it is a MUST see. Whether or not you’re a fan, you will love this comedy.
