Prince transformed the landscape of popular music.
It feels unworthy to simply call him a 'pop star'. Not only did Prince Rogers Nelson span and brilliantly fuse a range of musical genres to create some of the most unique and timeless compositions in the history of popular song, but he transcended his field.
He influenced the spheres of music, fashion, art and film in a way that render him immortal in his far-ranging legacy. Much like the late great David Bowie, he was a ridiculously talented polymath who inspired some of the greatest artists who came in his wake.

But it seems that counts for nought for a surprising number of people, who are blissfully unaware of the legendary icon of our times. It is quite an accomplishment to live to any cognitive age with utter ignorance of a modern-day renaissance man.
