First Dates star Jordan Dunbar’s organs donated to save lives

“That makes me so proud as his father.”

The organs of the late First Date’s Ireland star Jordan Dunbar have been donated and will be used to help others, his father has said.

Jordan sadly passed away unexpectedly last week and was laid to rest on Saturday in his hometown of Donnaghmede in Dublin.

Speaking at the funeral, his father Albert Murphy said that his son “did a lot for others” and has become an organ donor as a way of reflecting this.

Mourners who gathered on Saturday morning were asked to wear bright colours in memory of Jordan and donations were asked to go to Pieta House rather than flowers given.

“He donated his organs for other families,” Albert said.

“That makes me so proud as his father and all his relations and friends we’re so proud of him too. We’re also going to give all the donations from the funeral to Pieta House, and Jordan would have loved that I think.”

Jordan was one of the first people to appear on the RTÉ dating series back in 2017 and went on to present My Yellow Brick Road in 2019.

Announcing the news, his heartbroken family said: “He is predeceased by his loving mam Sharon and uncle Michael.

“He will be sadly missed by his loving dad Albert and Albert’s brother and sisters, aunt Michelle, cousin Craig, his second family Gerry, Leeanne and Maria Nolan, his close friends Geena and Megan, relatives and a large circle of friends.

“May Jordan Rest In Peace.”

Also sharing their heartbreak over the sad news, COCO Content, the production company behind First Dates Ireland, shared a statement saying: “Our hearts our broken with the death of Jordan Dunbar, such a talented and beautiful person.

“We first met him on First Dates and he went on to present My Yellow Brick Road on RTE. He was a joy to work with and it was a privilege to know him. Deepest sympathy to all who loved him.”

RTE bosses added: “We are very sad to hear of the death of Jordan Dunbar. Jordan featured on First Dates Ireland and was also a presenter on the series My Yellow Brick Road.

“A wonderful talent, gone far too young. Our deepest sympathies to his loved ones.”
