Devastating.

Amid their grief following the sudden death of their drummer Taylor Hawkins, Foo Fighters have cancelled the remainder of their tour.

Urging fans to pull “loved ones close” following the “staggering loss”, they were set to finish their world tour when the 50 year old passed away on Friday during their South American leg.

“It is with great sadness that Foo Fighters confirm the cancellation of all upcoming tour dates in light of the staggering loss of our brother Taylor Hawkins,” a statement posted on social media said.

“We’re sorry for and share in the disappointment that we won’t be seeing one another as planned.

“Instead, let’s take this time to grieve, to heal, to pull our loved ones close, and to appreciate all the music and memories we’ve made together.

“With love, Foo Fighters”

Hawkins was set to play alongside his band in Bogota, Colombia on Friday night when he was taken ill in his hotel. When paramedics were called, they were unable to revive him. His death was then announced on Saturday.

Following his sudden death, in a statement following an initial forensic examination, the Colombian attorney general’s office said a preliminary urine toxicology test indicated the presence of 10 different substances and a further investigation into the cause of death could continue.

The band was set to perform at the Grammys on April 3, with US tour dates in April and May before heading to Europe in June.

Announcing his death on Saturday morning, the statement read: “The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of our beloved Taylor Hawkins.

“His musical spirit and infectious laughter will live with us forever.

“Our hearts go out to his wife, children, and family, and we ask that their privacy be treated with the utmost respect in this unimaginably difficult time.”
