Can’t wait for this.

Graham Norton’s best-selling novel ‘Holding’ is being adapted for the small screen, and fans will be delighted to hear that shooting is set to get underway in West Cork this summer. The massively successful novel is being turned into a four-part drama series for ITV.

Published in 2016, ‘Holding’ is the debut novel from Norton and is set in a remote village in West Cork. The story centres on Sergeant PJ Collins, who is described as “a gentle mountain of a man, who hides from people and fills his days with comfort food and half-hearted police work.” Everything changes when Collins is called upon to solve a serious crime for the first time in his career.

British actress, writer and comedian Kathy Burke will direct the adaptation and Game Of Thrones star Conleth Hill will take on the lead role of Sergeant Collins. Speaking about the project, Burke said it’s extremely special: “2021 is my 40th year working in the industry and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate than directing Holding. It’s a beautiful piece of writing with a great story and fantastic, full-bodied characters. All this with glorious West Cork as its setting proved irresistible.”

Norton also spoke about his excitement at seeing his work come to life: “I am beyond excited to see the story and characters I created being brought to the screen. I love how the brilliant creative team have transformed my novel into something so rich and dramatic. West Cork is ready for its close-up.”

The show is being produced as part of ITV Studios in association with Screen Ireland.
