Handbags at Dawn? Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey “Just Don’t Like Each Other” Apparently…

We always assumed that Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj were pretty good friends – sure didn’t they do a song together back in 2010 for one of Mariah’s albums? Needless to say, we were a bit surprised to hear that the two of them are reportedly  at each other’s throats on American Idol.

Nicki was only just announced as one of the new Idol judges, but apparently during her first taping with Mariah in New York, the pair talked over each other in a bid to be the most vocal judge.

According to TMZ, the drama kicked off when Mariah blatantly interrupted Nicki’s critique of a contestant numerous times. In retaliation, Nicki began talking over the diva, and raised her voice every time Mariah tried to butt into the conversation.

“These girls just don’t like each other,” said a source, speaking to the gossip website.

After the first day of filming, a fan of Nicki’s asked her how the judging had gone on Twitter. Nicki responded with a very cryptic: “It was…interesting…”

Hmm…call us crazy, but we think American Idol could be very interesting from now on – especially if Nicki and Mariah are likely to get all ‘handbags-at-dawn’ on us in the future.
