We all remember (well, most of us) the soppy 1990s rom-com hit You’ve Got Mail starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan.
Well today we are really feeling our age as it’s Meg Ryan’s 53rd birthday, so we decided to take a look back at some of our favourite bits from an actress who was the queen of rom-com for a number of years.
Starting off with firm favourite, When Harry Met Sally, Meg established her careers as an actress with this movie.

This was followed up with one of the all-time favourites, Sleepless in Seattle – a must-watch for any of your hopeless romantics out there.

Mel also featured in the hugely successful Top Gun which gave her the big break into acting. Although she is the ultimate 1990s rom-com heroine, things weren’t as plain sailing in her off-screen love life.
She fell for and later married her Innerspace co-star Dennis Quaid in 1991, but the marriage broke down in 2000 when news that she had begun a relationship with Russell Crowe broke.
Meg has one son, Jack and has an adopted daughter Daisy True.
