Princess Meghan has a certain ring to it.
It’s a week since Kensington Palace released a statement confirming that Prince Harry is dating the Suits actress.
The statement from the Communications Secretary to Prince Harry says that Meghan has been subjected to online abuse including "racial undertones of comment pieces".
The statement further says that the abuse has become too much for Meghan and that Harry is worried for her.
“Some of it has been hidden from the public – the nightly legal battles to keep defamatory stories out of papers; her mother having to struggle past photographers in order to get to her front door; the attempts of reporters and photographers to gain illegal entry to her home and the calls to police that followed; the substantial bribes offered by papers to her ex-boyfriend; the bombardment of nearly every friend, co-worker, and loved one in her life.”
“Prince Harry is worried about Ms Markle’s safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her.”
It is no wonder that the 35-year-old has been keeping a low profile.
But today, she broke her social media silence and posted to Instagram for the first time.
Meghan posted an image of a Gandhi quote that reads: “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”
The image comes from her own lifestyle site,
The Tig.
Under the image the actress shared her gratitude for her friends.
