Here’s why Meghan’s wedding dress will probably cost a lot less than Kate’s did

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are getting married tomorrow. And while the question on everybody's lips was once 'who in the name of God is going to walk that woman down the aisle?' now that that's all cleared up, we can get onto the really pressing matters. What is her dress going to look like? (And it's Prince Charles who will walk her down the aisle, by the way.) Basically, despite all the speculation, we honestly haven't a clue what the dress will look like and we won't know until tomorrow. But still, that hasn't stopped people talking about it... and wondering how much it'll cost. And apparently, it's going to cost a lot less than Duchess Kate's did when she walked down the aisle all those years ago. Here's why. According to royal expert Kate Nicholl, Meghan won't want to upstage the Duchess by having a more expensive dress than her. Makes sense, like. She told Entertainment Tonight: 

“There have been reports that [Meghan’s] considering spending hundreds of thousands of pounds on a wedding dress. I think that’s incredibly unlikely. “Kate Middleton’s dress is rumoured to have cost £250,000. It was her parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, who paid for that bill."

Kate wore a Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen gown with lace sleeves when she married Prince William back in 2011. It was stunning, but was it quarter of a million pounds worth of stunning? Who can say for sure - it was nice enough and her parents paid for it so whatever, it's grand. Nicholl went on to say that she really doesn't think Meghan is going to drop a load of money to upstage the future Queen Consort. She said:

“I think it is very unlikely that Meghan would spend more than that and in doing so try and upstage a future queen. “I don’t think she’s going to want to get royal life off to a start where she’s criticised for spending something like £400,000 on a wedding dress.”

Very fair, indeed. Either way though, we are going to have to wait until tomorrow to see what Meghan steps out in. Buzzin'.
