Our hearts can’t take it.

Hugh Jackman could crack a smile on anyone’s face, but this time it was his turn to have his smile stretched from ear to ear.

The actor had his heart melted after he saw a video of a grandad with dementia who was in absolute awe after seeing The Greatest Showman for the first time.

One TikTok user shared a video of his grandad going to see the film in an open air cinema, and it’s safe to say everyone’s eyes watered when we saw his emotional reaction to recognising the songs.

Not only did he adore the film, but you could also see him drumming on his legs and smiling through the music, crying tears of joy as the film ended.

“Wonderful! I could watch it again,” Charlie’s grandad said.

Hugh got wind of the video that was circulating TikTok and both tweeted out and Instagrammed it to thank Charlie for sharing the moving clip.

He wrote: “Thanks for sharing Charlie. Your Grandad sure made me smile. Please give him a hug for me. HJ.”

Hugh played the lead PT Barnum in the much-loved musical, alongside Zendaya, Zac Efron and Keala Settle.

The film centres on Barnum as he opens a circus as a way of keeping his family afloat, meeting interesting characters along the way.

According to Dementia Ireland, “dementia is the name for a range of conditions that cause damage to the brain. This damage can affect memory, thinking, language and the ability to carry out everyday tasks.

“There are many conditions which cause dementia. Alzheimer’s is the most common cause. Vascular dementia, dementia with Lewy bodies and Frontotemporal dementia are other causes.”
