Actress Shirley Mitchell has passed away at the age of 94, the Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
Mitchell was probably best known for her portrayal as Marion Strong on the American sitcom “I Love Lucy.” The role of Marion was originated by Margie Liszt before Mitchell took over the part in the 1950s.
Mitchell died of heart failure in her home in West Hollywood this Monday.
The actress was very much a sought-after in the 1950s onwards, with appearances in
Pete and Gladys,
The Doris Day Show,
Green Acres,
The Odd Couple,
Chico and the Man,
Three’s Company, M.D.,
Dallas and
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air under her belt.

Mitchell was married to the late Oscar-winning composer Jay Livingston, who died in 2001. She is survived by her two children from her first marriage, Scott and Brooke, and her sister-in-law, Nancy Olsen.
