Shane Filan has spoken out about his financial problems and how he understands why people turn to suicide as a solution.
The former Westlife star, who was declared bankrupt in the UK last year, told the Irish Independent that for him the key was positivity and support.
“To hear stories like those is horrible and it’s shocking – it’s one of those things where people get lost in their problem.”
He added: “Everybody is feeling it in some way, there’s a lot of pressure. And if they don’t have help, it can become a very scary, dark place.
“But luckily for me, I tried to stay positive. I was very scared, obviously, but you’ve got to keep looking forward. And I had great people.”
Speaking of looking forward, the 34-year-old singer is now concentrating on his solo music career starting with the release of his new single Everything To Me.
