Irish Footballer Splits From Wife of 12 Years

Former Irish international Shay Given has split from his wife Jane after 12 years of marriage.

The Aston Villa goalkeeper has apparently moved out of the family home and into a townhouse where he is said to meet up with his new squeeze, Becky Gibson.

Shay plays for Aston Villa and is a former Irish international.

According to reports Shay and Becky, a promotions girl who is separated from Bolton player Nicky Hunt, only became a couple after his marriage had come to an end.

An insider said: “They met some time ago at a football event but it is only recently after Given split up with his wife Jane that they became a couple.”

The source added: “It is a bit of a shock, though, that Shay and Jane have split because they have two children and seemed a really strong couple.”

Seven months after they met in 1999 Shay and Jane, a teacher, got engaged. They tied the knot in 2001.
