Former Fair City actress Rebecca Smith has settled a damages claim that she had made against RTE.
The actress had brought charges against the national broadcaster as she alleged that she had suffered whiplash injuries while filming a scene for the Irish soap. She sued RTE for negligence with damages of €38,000 and has now reportedly settled the case for an undisclosed sum.
Ms Smith from Killiney in Dublin, played Annette Daly an alcoholic solicitor on the show and made claims against RTE saying that she had been injured while travelling as a passenger in a car driven by a stuntman around the area of Mount Merrion Church.
The actress stated that she had felt pain in her neck and upper back along with her right arm and fingers and said that RTE should have used a stunt double for the scene. She claimed that she had not been aware that the scene would require the driver to brake violently.
The barrister for Ms Smith told the court that Ms Smith’s claim could be struck out as it had been settled.
