John Travolta has spoken out for the first time this week about allegations made by his former pilot that they were romantically involved.
The 60-year-old actor was hit with the claims at the start of this year when Douglas Gotterba stated that he had enjoyed a sexual relationship with the actor while under his employment.
Gotterba worked for Travolta for six years until 1987, according to documents filed at the Court of Appeal in California. The pair have been involved in a legal dispute since the beginning of 2014 with Gotterba arguing that he was not locked into a confidentiality agreement during his term of employment.
Thus, he believes he is free to disclose the details of his “personal and intimate relationship” with the Grease star and is now suing him for the right to write a book about their supposed romantic liaison.
Travolta has now spoken out publicly in an interview with The Daily Beast about the claims. He said: “This is every celebrity’s Achilles’ heel. It’s just about people wanting money. That’s all. It happens on many levels.
“Also, I don’t care that much about it,” he continued, speaking about the media’s involvement in celebrities’ private lives. “Other people may attack it back more than I do, but I let all the media stuff go a long time ago because I can’t control it.”

The actor admitted: “I found it most offensive with the loss of my son.”
Jett, John’s son, died at the age of 16 after suffering a seizure during a family holiday in the Bahamas in 2009. “I felt like that was the lowest I’d ever felt. Sex stuff is always going to be interesting to somebody, but you stay away from family.”
This isn’t the first time that a man has made claims about Travolta. In 2012 Fabian Zanxi, a former employee of Royal Caribbean Cruises, accused the star of coming onto him while on board a ship in 2009. This action was later dismissed.
Travolta has been married to Kelly Preston since 1991 and has denied all claims of homosexuality and sexual assault.
