Finally, someone said it.

James Blunt has said that “posh people have feelings too” and that even though he agrees he has a “stupid accent” he doesn’t think he should be made fun of for it.

The ‘You’re Beautiful’ singer made the bold assertion this week while discussing Twitter trolls and bullying in the music industry.

He told Sky Sports’ Natalie Pinkham’s In The Pink podcast that he believes his career should be based on the music he makes, rather than who has been saying what about him in the media.

“Whether or not I deserve being in the music business, it should just be about the music,” he said. “You know what, posh people have feelings too.”

“I’m in a business that’s very shallow, where people think being mean to others, means you get some cool brownie points,” Blunt said.

“Some of these people say things like this about anyone doing well in the music business in order to keep themselves relevant and in the papers.”

One of Blunt’s must vociferous critics includes Noel Gallagher, who has described the musician as “boring” and “fucking rubbish.”

“Posh people are alright,” he told Loaded. “I have a lot of posh friends. But James Blunt doesn’t get people’s backs up because he’s posh, it’s because he’s fucking shit.“

“What held him back is the fact he’s fucking rubbish. That’s shit about his accent, he sings in an American accent anyway.

“I don’t think there are too many posh people in the arts – I don’t think there’s enough working class in the charts.”

Blunt, who regular engages with the haters on Twitter, added that if people wanted to criticise him for something, they should do it about his carbon footprint.

“My wife is very active in helping the ocean regenerate and is currently studying a masters in sustainability, and then there’s me who creates this incredible carbon footprint by travelling the world on these tours,” he said.

“I can’t do any preaching because I am one of the most guilty.”
