Janet Street-Porter has defended Roxanne Pallett following Ryan Thomas’s Celebrity Big Brother win.

The Loose Women panelist said that she didn’t think the former soap actor should be punished any further for what happened while she was on the reality show.

Pallett accused Thomas of punching her on camera while she was in the house. She later revoked her statement, apologising saying that she had “got it wrong.”

Speaking on today’s instalment of the panel show, Street-Porter said that she felt “enough” had been said about the incident.

She said:

“I was reading about it online and on social media and then it just came to a point with this girl where I thought, ‘enough’.

“What do you want? Do you want something dreadful to happen to her in a public place? You have to accept that young people make mistakes. She did something that was totally out of order, but we can’t go on punishing people.”

This comes after Thomas was crowned the winner of Celebrity Big Brother last night.

After leaving the house, the former Coronation Street actor said that he was glad there was 24 hour surveillance “because the point was proven.”

During his exit interview, he said:

“It was a sign of affection… there was nothing in it. As it unravelled, as it became bigger and bigger, then it scared me.

“We all know how something like that can stick on a man. I just wanted out. I felt I was going to be getting a call from the police for doing something untoward to a woman. And that’s not me.”
