Jen Aniston's ex Tate Donovan says filming Friends scenes was 'painful'
Jennifer Aniston's ex Tate Donovan has said that filming some of his Friends scenes was "painful."
The pair dated for a number of years before they both appeared in the sitcom together, again each other's as romantic interests.
Donovan played Joshua, who Rachel meets at work and eventually starts to develop feelings for. Although he was only in the show for six episodes, Donovan said that a lot of the time he was "dying inside."
He told Us Weekly:
"The only bummer was Jennifer and I were breaking up at the time.
"That was tricky to sort of act, and act like we are just meeting each other, and falling in love, or whatever, interested in each other, when we’re sort of breaking up. That was just tough."
The 54-year-old went on to say that many people assumed he and Aniston had met while filming Friends, but in reality they had known each other many years before.
He said that while things were good between them, they both still found the scenes difficult enough to get through.
"It was really ultimately a great experience of how people can treat you really well, and you still do your job even though you’re sort of dying inside."
Aniston and Donovan dated for three years between 1995 and 1998.
She met Brad Pitt not long after this relationship ended.
