Jennifer Aniston responds to David Schwimmer romance rumours

“Like, really? That’s my brother!”

Friends star Jennifer Aniston has shed some light on the rumours of a possible romance with her former co-star, and on-screen love interest, David Schwimmer.

Reports that the couple were dating started circulating earlier this summer. A “source” told Closer Magazine that since reuniting for the Friends anniversary special, Jennifer and David hung out at her house and were chatting on social media, which, incidentally, are all things friends do.

Now, however, it seems Jen has put any speculation to bed once and for all.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Jennifer described the rumours as “bizarre”.

The actress said: “That was bizarre. I could not believe that actually. Like, really? That’s my brother?”

However, the star acknowledged why rumours of that nature circulate in the first place.

She said: “But I understand it though. It just shows you how hopeful people are for fantasies for dreams to come true.”

Furthermore, Schwimmer’s representatives denied the rumours of a relationship a few weeks ago.

They told HuffPostUK that there was no truth in the rumours whatsoever.

Friends fans have long been rooting for the two to couple up, however it’s quite clear that that is not an option. However, it seems the two did indeed fancy one another at one stage.

During the Friends reunion, David and Jen said that in the early filming days, they had crushes on each other.

Host James Corden asked the cast whether any off-set romances occurred on the show, to which Jen responded: “Well, I mean… David.”

Schwimmer elaborated: “The first season I had a major crush on Jen.”

“And I think at some point we were both crushing hard on each other, but it was like two ships passing because one of us was always in a relationship. We never crossed that boundary. We respected that.”

David went on: “I thought back on the very first year or two when we had breaks from rehearsal, there were moments when we would cuddle on a couch. And I’m thinking, ‘how did everyone not know that we were crushing on each other?’”

Jen added: “It was reciprocal. Honestly I remember saying one time to David, ‘It’s going to be such a bummer if the first time you and I actually kiss is going to be on national television’.

“Sure enough the first time that we kissed was in that coffee shop. So we just channelled all our adoration and love for each other into Ross and Rachel.”
