
Actor Jeremy Irons will be made an honorary Corkman at the 21st Cork Person of the Year awards that are to take place at the end of the month.
Irons, who was born in the Isle of Wight, has lived in Ireland with his wife Sinéad Cusack for many years.
As well as being an Oscar-winning actor, Irons is also known for his contribution to the local charities in the area, like the Greater Chernobyl Cause and the Hope Foundation.
He will receive the Honorary Corkman award for his achievements in promoting the arts, environmental work and charities in West Cork, as well as restoring Kilcoe Castle near Ballydehob.
The award will also celebrate his many acting achievements over the years.
