Now Mr Jackson has proven that he's a total gent and a pretty perfect ex-beau - by paying tribute to Diane in a gushing Insta post. Acknowledging his former partner's Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival The 38-year-old Canadian stated: "Yes she Cannes. "Having witnessed the integrity and dedication that you bring to every job, I'm over the moon to see you getting the recognition you deserve. Only question is what took 'em so long! "CONGRATULATIONS."

He signed the message "Josh" (in case there was any confusion) and also used the hashtag #DianeKruger (again, no confusion here). Understandably, in the aftermath the message notched up 5K likes and A LOAD of approving comments from fans. German-born Diana, 40, was married to French actor and director Guillaume Canet from 2001-2006. She met Mr Jackson in the year that her divorce was finalised. Previously, during an interview with Glamour, Diane revealed: "Without sounding pessimistic, I learned that I don't believe in marriage. I believe in a commitment that you make in your heart. There's no paper that will make you stay. "A guy friend of mine said, and it made a lot of sense, that people should get married at the end of the road, not the beginning."
