Derek was finally able to go home in April last year and has since been receiving 24 hour care from his home, but Kate, earlier this month, said that he is back in hospital but never mentioned why.
Kate has been very open about Derek's condition since he was admitted to hospital in 2020, releasing two documentaries about his journey, Caring for Derek and Finding Derek.
Appearing on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories in December, Kate was asked: “What has Covid done to your husband?”
She replied: “It’s devastated him. From the top of his head to the tip of his toe.
“His digestive system, his liver, his kidneys, his heart, his nervous system. We’re pretty sure that the inflammation did pass through the brain.
