The rule Kate Middleton and Prince William have for their children will surprise many parents.

According to reports, Kate Middleton and Prince William are very strict when it comes to their kids using digital devices including iPads.

In fact, they’re believed to have a rule in place preventing their older children, George (5) and Charlotte (3) from watching programmes on handheld devices.

parenting tip

According to Us Weekly, a source said:

“They’re very much seen as mummy and daddy’s toys, not for children”.

Instead of allowing George, Charlotte or indeed Prince Louis who turns one in April, to watch TV on iPads or smartphones, they’re encouraged to play outside and use their toys.

“As two people who grew up without gadgets for entertainment themselves, William and Kate are firm believes in toys, outdoor play and encouraging an active imagination.

“They’re very much a normal family”.

This parenting rule might come as a surprise to other mums and dads who allow their children to watch their favourite TV shows on iPads or play games, some of which can be used for educational purposes.

Of course, every parent is different and what works for one child won’t necessarily be right for another but it’s an interesting decision all the same.

Many mothers and fathers have ‘screen time’ routines in place so their children are only permitted to watch a certain amount of TV but again, there’s no right or wrong when it comes to this particular parenting dilemma.
