Kate Middleton and Queen Elizabeth marked a very special milestone today as they had their first public engagement together as a duo.

The pair visited King’s College London on Tuesday to open Bush House, the latest education and learning facilities on the university’s Strand Campus.

On the visit, Buckingham Palace said:

“
Today The Duchess is accompanying Her Majesty to see Bush House, a set of buildings which have been converted to include lecture theatres, teaching rooms, and an auditorium.”

According to The Mirror, the event marks the first time the Queen and the Duchess of Cambridge have had a joint appearance, without any other members of the royal family.

Kate had previously joined Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth on a royal visit to Leicester as part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee tour in March 2012.

Kate was seen wearing a grey coat dress believed to be by Catherine Walker. Meanwhile the Queen wore a cashmere coat from Stewart Parvin in the very seasonal shade of Old Rose.

The Queen, who is patron of King’s College, and Kate will reportedly have a tour of the new facilities. They will also meet with those who had been involved in the university’s renovations.

They will also see a robotics demonstration, and meet students from the Entrepreneurship Institute. The group promotes entrepreneurial thinking, skills and experiences amongst the students and staff at King’s College.
