Kate Middleton revealed her youngest son’s first word, inspired by none other than the fabulous Mary Berry.
This year, Prince William, Kate Middleton and Mary Berry teamed up for the Berry Royal Christmas party where the talented food critic and TV personality judged the royal couple on their abilities in the kitchen, all for a good cause.
The BBC show followed the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as they have a bake-off, both aiming to perfect a roulade but of course, Mary couldn’t choose a favourite.
According to Kensington Palace, The Berry Royal Christmas party was held by Kate, Will and Mary Berry to “thank and acknowledge staff and volunteers from charities and organisations who will be working tirelessly over the Christmas period”.
They first became acquainted through their charity work with Child Bereavement UK and the programme gave Mary an opportunity to learn more about the work the couple do.
Not even two-years-old, Prince Louis is already a fan of Mary Berry with Kate explaining:
“One of Louis’ first words was ‘Mary’ because right at his height are all my cooking books in the kitchen bookshelf. And children are really fascinated by faces, and your faces are all over your cooking books, and he would say ‘That’s Mary Berry’ … so he would definitely recognise you if he saw you today.”
Not only that but Kate also said that William used to try to impress her by cooking dinner while they were at university and chatted about how the family grow their vegetables now, (Louis loves beetroot apparently).
Mary showed them how to decorate cakes, mix non-alcoholic cocktails and former Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain made an appearance.
Highlights from A Berry Royal Christmas air tonight, Monday 16 December, at 8.30 pm and if you have plans, cancel them immediately.
