We knew they were flying to Italy for the ceremony, but now it’s been confirmed by city officials that Kim and Kanye are set to wed at Florence’s 16th century Belvedere Fort on May 24th.
Elisa Di Lupo, a spokersperon for the mayor’s office, confirmed the couple rented the fort for €30,000 and a Protestant minister will preside over the service.
The intimate gathering is believed to be restricted to just close friends and family, with Kim having said she wants to exchange vows in “a super, super small, intimate wedding.”
So why pick Florence for the nuptials?
West told Florence’s La Nazione newspaper on Friday that he and Kim had come to Florence incognito and believed that their daughter, North, born in June 2013, was conceived “among the Renaissance masterpieces”.
Speaking of that first trip, he also said:
“It was our first honeymoon. It’s one of the most beautiful cities of the world, for me the most beautiful in Europe.”
The couple have been engaged since October 2013.
