Lily Allen has come in for criticism today, after it was revealed that she lied about having unprotected sex in order to get emergency contraception for a friend’s birthday present.
Allen’s friend posted a photo to Instagram showing a woman surrounded by condoms, sex toys and a package containing the morning-after pill, with the caption “birthday gifts from @lilyallen who had to pretend she’d had unprotected sex to get me a morning after pill”.
While many of Lily’s fans branded the gesture “true friendship”, others slammed her for her irresponsible attitude and accused her of promoting promiscuity.
Medical professionals have also warned that “no one should be taking the morning after pill without answering questions about their medical background”.
