Little Mix fans speculate new song Cut You Off is about Jesy Nelson

Katy Brennan

The group said writing the latest song was “like a therapy session”.

Little Mix Fans are convinced the group’s upcoming song is a dig at ex-member Jesy Nelson.

Cut You Off, written by Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Perrie Edwards and Jade Thirwall, will be the next release from their highly-anticipated new album – which is due to drop in November.

Jesy left the band last year and recently launched her solo career with her debut single, Boyz, featuring Nicki Minaj.

While the girls wished each other success, things took a turn in recent weeks when every member of Little Mix unfollowed Jesy on Instagram, leading to what might be one of the most-talked about feuds in the music industry ever.

The lyrics to the song’s chorus are:

“Someone tell me how. How did we get here? It used to be so good.

Nothing lasts forever, but I really thought we could.

I know there’ll be tears. But it’s worth a broken heart.

If I can’t protect my energy, I gotta cut you off.”

Fans took to social media, speculating that the song, disguised as one about a break-up, is actually about Jesy.

User @LeighIconic shared a video of a snippet from the song titled: “This is definitely a song about Jesy disguised as a break-up song and I’m here for it.”

“As they should,” one user commented.

“FACTS.FACTS. FACTS,” another wrote.

“Good for them. Jesy’s energy was always off,” a third added.

Other users stood up for Jesy in the comments.

“The amount of people who have turned on Jesy since she left is funny. She left cuz it was better for her, she doesn’t care what you think,” one user wrote.

“I don’t understand why everyone’s attacking Jesy. It’s none of you guy’s issues. Just leave her if she’s happy,” another said.

Others took to Twitter, urging Little Mix to release the upcoming song early and “utilise the attention” they are getting from the feud at the moment.
