Lizzo is launching an all-inclusive shape wear range – and thank God for that

Katy Brennan

“For every damn body.”

Lizzo has announced the launch of an all-inclusive shapewear brand.

With the new business venture, she wanted to create a line that screamed “self-love, radical inner confidence, and effortless, everyday wear.”

“I was tired of seeing this sad, restrictive shapewear that literally no-one wanted to wear.” she said. “I had an epiphany like, ‘who can actually do something about this?’”

“I decided to take on the challenge of allowing women to feel unapologetically good about themselves again.”

Sizes in the range will come from XS to 6X. It will feature three different lines – Nearly Naked which is made up of seamless garments, Mesh Me, a collection of mesh styles that can also be worn as outerwear, and Major Label, which focuses on everyday lifestyle pieces.

“Instead of thinking about size in this linear way, we’re thinking about it on a spectrum where everyone is included.

“Everyone’s size is just their size. It’s not high, it’s not low. It’s not big, it’s not small. It’s just your size.”

The brand is named after the Good as Hell singer’s childhood nickname and is her first ever dabble in the world of business.

In a post on Instagram announcing the line, the star wrote:

“This is a love letter to my big grrrls, and a welcome letter to Every Body. This is *not* an invitation to change who you are…this is an opportunity to BE who you are on your terms.

“I don’t know about y’all – but I’m sick of people telling me how I’m supposed to look and feel about my body. I’m tired of discomfort being synonymous with sexy.

“If it’s uncomfortable TAKE IT OFF. And if it makes you feel good PUT IT ON. @YITTY isn’t just shapewear, it’s your chance to reclaim your body and redefine your beauty standard

Lizzo previously told The New York Times it’s not about selling clothes, but selling confidence. “I’m selling a mentality that ‘I can do what I want with my body, wear what I want and feel good while doing it.'”

No launch date has yet been revealed for the brand or its products.
