Instagram is not always a fun place.

For many it makes them feel like they’re missing out, not thin enough, not getting enough likes and ultimately, feel sad because they find themselves competing against others for likes and recognition.

It can be a cesspit for negative thoughts and bad moods as you stare at these picture-perfect feeds.

But even Made In Chelsea’s Louise Thompson who’s an avid Instagrammer, showcasing her incredible life – one that most would only fantasise about is noticing the app is making her sad.

Taking to Instagram, Louise revealed that her recent holiday to Bali made her feel like a “fraud” as she tried to recreate incredible images of those who’ve previously travelled to the island.

“When I was in Bali I felt like a bit of a fraud tbh. I LOVE travelling, I LOVE photography, fashion etc and I LOVE the opportunity to be creative and share my stories, but I don’t enjoy being a copycat or feeling like I’m following in someone else’s footsteps,” the 29-year-old revealed.

Continuing, the star noted that she needs to stop taking the app so seriously, asking herself what’s the point in trying so hard to capture the perfect image if you loose the importance of the moment you’re in.

True.

Ending her speil, Louise added:

“I want to use this space to be me. It’s not that my content is harmful, but I wanna make sure I don’t get sucked into the vortex. If it isn’t adding value to your life then what’s the point?”

We hear you and we utterly relate. Instagram should be an app you control and use on your terms. Follow pages that make you happy, take images that you like and most importantly, remember to soak up the moment with the phone down too.
