Love Island isn’t the only big hosting gig Maya Jama is getting next year

What a year for her.

Maya Jama is heading to South Africa next year to host the winter season of Love Island and while she nabbed the biggest presenting gig of next year, it’s not the only major one she could be getting.

Maya is now reportedly “in talks” to host the BRIT Awards in February 2023 following the announcement she would be replacing Laura Whitmore on the ITV2 reality series.

Maya has now been tipped to host the UK’s biggest night in music and would be the first solo female host of the music awards since Cat Deeley presented it back in 2004.

A source told The UK Sun: “Maya Jama has proven to be a really confident and competent host and young people love her, which is key for an event like the Brit Awards.

“Since she helped out earlier this year, her star power has risen, and she has been in talks about hosting the show on her own.

“There are plenty of contenders vying for this year’s job as the show’s host and nothing has been signed – but Maya has made it clear she would love to take on the role.”

As the awards are set to be held on February 11, 2023, this could be a conflict with her Love Island schedule.

There had been a lot of rumours circulating the internet that Maya would be taking on the role but over the last few weeks, nothing had been confirmed until last month.

Sharing the news via their official Instagram account, the ITV show wrote: “Okay, the rumours are true. Say hey to your brand-new #LoveIsland host @mayajama!”

Maya commented on the post: “SO BLOODY EXCITED. GET ME ON THAT ISLAND.”

And passing down the reigns, Laura was immediately in the comments of the post to congratulate her, writing: “Yes girl!! So delighted for you! You’re gonna be fab xx.”

To which Maya replied: “thankyou chick.”
