Love Island's Maura Higgins and Chris Taylor are officially together
After months of close friendship, intense speculation, and a whole load of TikTok videos, Maura Higgins and Chris Taylor have finally announced that they are in a relationship.
The pair, who became best friends after meeting on Love Island, have maintained a close friendship for well over a year now.
And although they have always remained adamant that their friendship has been nothing more than just that - a friendship - last night, the pair confirmed what a lot of people had pretty much guessed anyway: they're a couple.
My heart, it bursts.
Posting the same photo to their Instagram grids last night, the couple announced that they are, in fact, a couple at the same time.
Maura captioned the photo a simple "He's mine," while Chris went all out and said: "Turns out I fell in love with my best mate."
Honestly, guys. Too much.
During her stint on Love Island, Maura left the villa with Curtis Pritchard. The pair made it to the final and finished fourth, eventually beginning a relationship that lasted eight months.
Maura announced their split earlier this year, stating: "Curtis and I have made the decision to separate. We enjoyed a great experience from our time in the villa and want to thank everyone for supporting our relationship.
“There is no easy way to get through a break up and no bad feeling on either side. We tried to make it work but it wasn’t to be, and I wish Curtis nothing but the best for the future.”
Chris, who entered the villa a few weeks after Maura, left the villa with Harley Brash. He also emerged as a keen favourite among fans.
Rumours around Chris and Maura's romance first emerged over the summer when she was spotted leaving his flat.
The Longford star later told MailOnline that Chris was one of her best friends. "A lot of people have said we're dating but it's only because we get on so well," she said at the time.
"We click and have the same banter. We got on so well in the villa but I don't think our friendship was shown at all."
