Well, that's interesting...

It has been a whirlwind few months for Megan Barton-Hanson since leaving the Love Island villa.

From landing product deals to speaking openly about her mental health and now… landing a mega deal as the new brand ambassador of PrettyLittleThing, it certainly has been non-stop for the 24-year-old who admits she’s only getting started.

Having been catapulted into fame while appearing on 2018’s Love Island, Megan knew life was never going to be the same again and she was well aware that with her new platform, backlash too awaited.

Speaking to Her earlier this week she explained that she wasn’t naive of what was to come.

“After we filmed the final, I got taken into a room by this ITV press guy and he just ran through all the stories that had come out about me and I was like ‘oh god’.

“But you know, I wasn’t completely naive, I knew when I went in I’d get a lot of stick for my previous jobs and obviously for having sex on TV and the fact that I had surgery even though I didn’t really think that was a negative but yeah, I deal with it quite well now [negative press].”

Megan also revealed that she believes being able to leave the villa with Wes made things a lot easier as the pair now have eachother on this new journey. The islander also admitted that her relationship with Wes is stronger than ever, however, is well aware that not all Love Island couples are living the same fairytale and that doesn’t surprise her one bit.

As the tally of Love Island splits has now reached five, with the last being Georgia and Sam, Megan reveals it didn’t shock her.

“I’m not surprised… when you’re living in the villa, it’s a retreat and when you’re out you’ve got this job to do and that job to do and it’s all so overwhelming trying to navigate your way through it so, it’s not really a shock.”

And Megan believes that the stresses and temptations of live post-villa mixed with bad time management are the reasons why things have ended in heartbreak for many of the Islanders.

“I think a lot of it is how you prioritise your time and what is a priority. I think me and Wes are really on the same page and obviously, our career and work are important but ultimately we went in there [Love Island] to find someone so as long as we’re happy together that’s the main thing for us.”

And now, looking forward, Megan has big plans in the pipeline, she hopes to get her own edit with PrettyLittleThing moving forward as well as kick-starting her presenting career. 2019 is looking bright.
