Lucy Fallon hints she may return to Coronation Street
Lucy Fallon has hinted she may return to Coronation Street - three weeks after announcing her exit from he soap.
The actress has played Bethany Platt for the last four years. She announced in early May that she would be leaving at the end of her contract in 2020.
Speaking to The Mirror, she said that it felt like the right time to go and try new things - however, she wouldn't rule out going back to Coronation Street.
“I will be sad but I’m excited to see what’s going to happen in the future, although I have no idea what’s going to happen, it’s quite scary.
“When I leave I’ll have been there for five years and I’ve never done anything else so I just want to try new things and do new things.
“But I’ll end up going back - I’ll be back. I owe everything to the show.
“Hopefully [I’ll be back]. We’ll see, but you never know, I might end up getting killed in a tram crash.”
The actress announced earlier this month that she would be leaving the cobbles.
She said that although she has had "the most incredible" time on the show, she will be leaving to pursue other roles once her contract is up next year.
She said in a statement:
"After the most incredible 4 years, I have made the extremely difficult decision to leave Coronation Street at the end of my contract in 2020.
"It’s hard to put into words how much this show means to me.
"I’ve made lifelong friends with some of the most talented and hardworking people in the industry, I’ve had some terrific and immensely important storylines and I’ve laughed with the best people everyday. I’m so thankful to Iain and everyone at Coronation Street, I owe everything to them and I will miss them greatly.”
