“Me and Chantelle Need Professional Help” Says Alex Reid as he Opens up About his Arrest

Alex Reid has broken his silence on his ‘destructive’ relationship with his former fiancée Chantelle Houghton, and has revealed his account of what happened on the night he was taken into police custody following a disturbance at the couple’s home.

The cage fighter has said that he realised his relationship with Chantelle needed some serious help when he found himself lying on the concrete floor of a police cell at 4am and deemed a suicide risk.

“I knew then that both me and Chantelle need professional help,” said Alex, speaking to Now magazine.

Police arrived at the home that Alex shared with Chantelle and their 13-week old daughter, Dolly, in the early hours of the morning on September 5th, after a panicked Chantelle rang and said that her fiancé had forced entry into the house by kicking down the door.

“We’d been rowing. But I hadn’t noticed anything worse than usual. I didn’t expect any of this. I’m flabbergasted. I texted Chantelle two hours beforehand to tell her I was coming home,” said Alex.

According to various reports, neighbours in surrounding houses got worried and also contacted the police after they heard Alex screaming: “Let me in! F*cking let me in!” on the night in question.

While it is unclear what happened exactly, Alex was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and using violence to gain entry to the premises. He was questioned by the police and later released.

Unsurprisingly, shortly after the incident, Chantelle officially confirmed that she had “no option but to end” her relationship with the cage fighter.

However, upon his release, Alex claims he returned to his and Chantelle’s home, and according to him, the couple then spent the rest of the night together.

“We slept in the same bed. She wanted to hug me, but I wouldn’t let her. The next night I melted a little bit and let her,” said Alex.

Chantelle’s spokesperson has already blasted Alex’s version of events, claiming that it contains various inaccuracies.

“Chantelle’s deeply saddened that, just a week after their split, Alex is more interested in selling his story and publicly fabricating lies than taking responsibility for his own actions and daughter,” said the spokesperson.

While Chantelle may be saddened by Alex revealing his own account of what happened, we imagine it won't be too long before she gives her version of events too.
