Mean Girls: Katy Perry Lashes Out on Twitter – But is it Aimed at Taylor?

Katy Perry appears to have lashed out at singer Taylor Swift today, as she tweeted ‘Watch out for the Regina George in sheep’s clothing!’

The Roar singer, who scooped a world record this week, becoming the musician with the most Twitter followers (52,463,838 to be exact), tweeted the Mean Girls reference out to that enormous fan base this afternoon.

The dig is supposedly aimed at Taylor Swift following the singer’s comments about an unnamed celebrity in an interview she gave with Rolling Stone.

Taylor spoke about her new song Bad Blood and revealed that it was written about a rival in the industry who had attempted to sabotage her career.

She also explained that the situation was not about a boy, even though both singers have John Mayer in common.

In the interview, Taylor stated: “For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not. She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, ‘Are we friends or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?’”

The 24-year-old continued; “She did something so horrible. I was like, ‘Oh we’re just straight-up enemies.’ And it wasn’t even about a guy! It had to do with business. She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me. And I’m surprisingly non-confrontational – you would not believe how much I hate conflict. So now I have to avoid her. It’s awkward, and I don’t like it.”

Although unnamed in the article, Katy Perry seems to be putting her hands up to this by her tweet, which sees her quoting 2004 hit movie Mean Girls.

Other artists who have been linked to Swift’s new song Bad Blood include Miley Cyrus and Demi Levato.
