Meghan Markle and Prince Harry make first royal appearance after Christmas break

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have stepped out for their first royal appearance in six weeks.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have spent the last few weeks in Canada with their young son, Archie. According to the Mirror, the parents made a stop at the Hubb Community Kitchen - one of Meghan's first royal causes - to "get an update" and wish everyone a happy new year. They then headed to Canada House in London, to meet High Commissioner to the U.K Janice Charette, to thank the staff for the "warm" hospitality they had received during the trip. The publication report that the couple will also tour the Canada Gallery during their visit, and view an exhibition by  indigenous Canadian artist Skawennati. It has been said that they will meet members of the High Commission team who work in a number of sectors in support of the partnership between the UK and Canada. It is their first public appearance since November 2019. It was announced late last year that the Sussexes would be “spending private family time in Canada" for the holiday season. “The decision to base themselves in Canada reflects the importance of this Commonwealth country to them both,” a statement at the time read. “Whilst this email confirms the country they are taking their family time in, for security reasons we will not be releasing any further details and request that their privacy is respected. “The Duke of Sussex has been a frequent visitor to Canada over many years, and it was also home to The Duchess for seven years before she became a member of the Royal Family. "They are enjoying sharing the warmth of the Canadian people and the beauty of the landscape with their young son."
