Breaking royal protocol and we are here for it.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are in the middle of their royal tour of Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand and they’ve been very busy attending numerous royal engagements and making public appearances.

All eyes are on Meghan and her maternity style but reports have suggested that some of her ensembles are breaking royal protocol.

Today, she’s wearing a dress from Reformation while visiting Fraser Island and much has been made of the fact that this item features a thigh-high slit.

Now, it’s important to remember that it’s very warm and Meghan is pregnant and of course, she wants to stay as cool and comfortable as possible.

Apparently, exposing shoulders and dresses with slits aren’t exactly common for members of the royal family but we’re thinking that the rule is lifted when abroad etc.

Either way, Meghan is making her own sartorial choices and that is something we are very much here for.

The 37-year-old has been pictured wearing open-toed sandals, also frowned upon but let’s be honest, what else is one meant to wear when visiting a warm country?

Speaking to Harpers Bazaar previously, etiquette expert William Hanson said:

“Open-toed shoes are considered informal footwear and inappropriate for formal occasions”.

We’re glad to hear the rule has been relaxed somewhat during this royal tour and we can’t wait to see the rest of the mum-to-be’s outfits.
