Meghan’s mother Doria won’t be the first to know when her daughter gives birth – here’s why

Shame.

Giving birth sounds like a lot of work.

From what we can gather, there’s a lot of pushing and pain, but yeah, we suppose there’s a payoff at the end too in that you get your own child out of it but still, a lot of hassle all the same.

What would make the whole experience even more frustrating would be if you couldn’t decide who you told about your new child first.

Surely, you’d have a decent list of people who you’d want to know before others, but nah, when you’re a member of the royal family you simply don’t get that luxury.

Because the first person that royals have to tell about a new royal baby is the Queen.

A new royal portrait of Queen Elizabeth has been unveiled...and she's looking fly

Not their immediate family who might not be in the room.

Not their mates who might live across the world.

Not anyone who might be genuinely thrilled by the news.

The Queen.

And to be honest, that one has probably heard her fair share of birth announcements in her time, meaning that she’s probably sick of them by now.

Which could easily be the general vibe when Meghan gives birth soon and has to let her Majesty know about the new arrival before her actual own mother.

Shame.

Once the Queen knows about the birth – and whether the child is a boy or a girl – the news can then be announced to the public via a billboard outside Buckingham Palace, the town crier, and a few social media posts.

Great to see it.
