You'd be forgiven for forgetting that Miley Cyrus was once the sweet, innocent Hannah Montana, but the 21 year-old star has said she's "really thankful" to have started on Disney.
Thanking them for giving her a break into the music industry, the singer credits the training and hard work from her childhood career as the key to her global success.
In an interview with Elle magazine, Cyrus admitted she had struggled to move on from her Disney days, saying:
"There’s times where I wish I could have just started as a new artist, but the world has kind of allowed me to do that. I feel really lucky—a lot of kid stars get all crazy or stuck in what they were, so they can’t actually become what they’re meant to be."
It wasn't long before the Wrecking Ball singer brought up her on live performances, comparing her risqué stage behaviour to the reactions male rappers get to their on-stage antics:
"I mean, guy rappers grab their crotch all f**king day and have h** around them, but no one talks about it. But if I grab my crotch and I have hot model b**ches around me, I'm degrading women? I'm a woman—I should be able to have girls around me! But I'm part of the evolution of that. I hope."
We're not sure how many feminist want to twerk it out, but we'll leave her to it.
