Mum’s the Word: Star’s Mother Says No to Xmas Proposal

They have only been going out for a year but it seems that one guy was rather keen to pop the question to his famous girlfriend. That was until he spoke to her mum!

According to The Sun Cheryl Cole’s new squeeze Tre Holloway asked her mother for her hand in marriage.

The dancer, who has put a smile back on the singer’s face in recent months, reportedly asked Joan Callaghan for her blessing because he wanted to pop the question on Christmas Day.

 

Cheryl and Tre supported Kimberley Walsh on Strictly at the weekend.

But Joan, who is very close to Cheryl and is extremely protective of her since the whole Ashley Cole debacle, said it was too soon.

A source told the newspaper: “Tre called her and said he wanted to propose to Cheryl when they are in America with his parents. He wanted to do it on Christmas Day, but Joan refused to give her blessing.”

The insider added: “She’s warming to Tre but there’s no way she’s going to let another man take Cheryl down the aisle so quickly… Tre’s got his work cut out if he thinks he can get around Joan so soon.”

 

The pop star hasn't exactly been lucky in love especially with ex Ashley Cole.

While we’re sad that there won’t be a festive proposal and a star-studded wedding to look forward to, we do have to admit that we reckon it probably is a bit soon for Cheryl to take the plunge again!
