The recent announcement that Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas were ending their marriage after 18 years shocked us all but the actress has wasted no time in moving on.
Griffith attended an awards ceremony with friend Eva Longoria this week with one noticable difference to her appearance.
The 56-year-old usually displays a heart-shaped tattoo with the word 'Antonio' on her right arm but had covered her ex-husband's name and removed her wedding ring in a defiant confirmation of the end of the relationship, just two weeks after a statement announced the split.
While it had been reported that she had the word removed by laser, this is unlikely as a large tattoo would take several sessions and she was pictured with the original design last week. Instead, it is believed that she altered the marking with make-up for her high-profile appearance.
According to US Weekly, the separation has been a long time coming as the couple had fallen out of love "a while ago".
"There was no cheating on either side," said a source.
"Their daughter Stella is about to be 18 in September and they wanted to wait until [the] kids were grown and out of the house before they split up, but knew they would awhile ago. They stayed together for the sake of the kids."
