People are criticising Meghan Markle’s outfit for a ridiculous reason

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made their first official appearance together on Monday evening, attending a wheelchair tennis match at the Invictus Games in Toronto. They're thought to be dating for over a year so there was a LOT of hype about when they would make their debut as a couple but what people are taking from it is seriously annoying. Rather than concentrate on how loved-up they seem, holding hands and all, Meghan's outfit has been called out. It's been suggested that ripped jeans aren't appropriate to wear when out and about with a prince...needless to say, people have strong opinions on this. It became a popular topic of discussion when the topic was shared as a poll on the official Facebook page of ITV chat show Lorraine. As you can see, the poll read:

"Meghan and Harry have finally made their first public appearance as a couple, at the Invictus Games. Some are commenting on Meghan’s outfit, claiming the future royal was too dressed down. We want to know your thoughts. "Should a would-be princess dress a bit smarter? Or do you think Meghan should be able to wear whatever she likes?"

Most commenters said that the actress, humanitarian and former editor-in-chief could wear whatever she likes and that it was completely unfair to pick her ensemble apart. We're in complete agreement too and can't even fathom why people would criticise her stylish yet casual look. However, for the most part, people seem to think that suggesting she should dress differently in the company of royals is ridiculous.
