“It’s not like I’m like ‘Yay, we’re gonna have sex tonight!’ It’s like, ‘Oh God, I’m so scared’.”

Vogue Williams has said that she felt nervous about having sex following the birth of her first child.

She and husband Spencer Matthews welcomed baby Theodore towards the end of last year.

The mother-of-one has since been open and honest about her experiences as a new parent, including her fears around sex since the birth of her son.

She told  the Made by Mammas podcast that she worried she wouldn’t enjoy sex so soon after having a baby.

“I think it’s not going to be that enjoyable,” she admitted.

“I feel like I’m ready and I think because I didn’t have any stitches or anything like that it makes it a bit different.

“I am scared, it’s not like I’m like ‘Yay, we’re gonna have sex tonight!’ It’s like, ‘Oh God, I’m so scared’.”

Vogue went on to say that she does miss being intimate with her husband, but that she felt the exact opposite way about sex towards the end of her pregnancy.

“I like that connection and I’ve definitely missed it,” she said.

“It was quite tough to get him to do it towards the end of pregnancy though, he really wasn’t into it then, and I still was.

“But now we both just want to because that is a big part of our life and I think it’s important, it sort of brings a closeness.”

Fears around, or a lack of interest in, sex affects many women after they have given birth.

Mayo Clinic advises waiting between four and six weeks before attempting vaginal penetration irrespective of the delivery method.

However, it’s completely normal to wait even longer if sex isn’t something that is actively appealing at the moment.

Communicating with your partner and spending time together away from your new baby is advised.
