Rachel McAdams confirms she had a ‘secret’ baby earlier this year

Rachel McAdams has finally confirmed that she "secretly" gave birth to a baby boy earlier this year. The Mean Girls star welcomed her first child with partner Jamie Linden back in April, following a pregnancy that she managed to keep extremely low-key. News began circulating that the pair had had a child in February when Linden was spotted carrying a newborn baby.  Some months later, Rachel was seen with a small child on her lap, but the actor had not confirmed or denied the news until this week. Speaking to The Sunday Times, she said that she and Linden had had a baby boy and that the experience is "the greatest thing that has ever happened to me, hands down!" She told the publication that this year felt like "the right time" for her to become a parent. She said:

"Your life is not your own anymore. But I had 39 years of me, I was sick of me. I was so happy to put the focus on some other person. I waited a long time."

Rachel and Jamie were first rumoured to be together back in 2016, with photos emerging of the pair out and about soon afterwards. Since then - and throughout Rachel's pregnancy - they kept a very low profile, never stepping out on the red carpet together or actively discussing their relationship in public. The Notebook star has called her experience of motherhood "fun."

"I’m having more fun being a mum than I’ve ever had. Everything about it is interesting and exciting and inspiring to me. "Even the tough days – there’s something delightful about them."
