This is actually very sweet.

Last week, the world got its first glimpse of the new royal baby.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry welcomed a son, and he’s just gorgeous.

And interestingly, the couple chose a rather untraditional name for the new little royal.

In an instagram post shared last week, the name of the baby was formally announced.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are pleased to announce they have named their first born child:”

“Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.”

“This afternoon Their Royal Highnesses introduced Her Majesty The Queen to her eighth great-grandchild at Windsor Castle. The Duke of Edinburgh and The Duchess’ mother were also present for this special occasion.”

How cute?

Anyway, it turns out that the name Archie is actually a subtle tribute to Prince Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana.

One of the Diana’s ancestors was Archibald Campbell, the ninth Earl of Argyll.

Archibald Campbell was a Sottish Protestant leader who lived from 1629 to 1685 and was killed over his opposition to the Roman Catholic James II.

So you see? There’s meaning everywhere.

In fact, there’s a special meaning behind baby Archie’s middle name, which is Harrison.

His middle name was chosen in honour of Prince Harry, as it means “son of Harry” – cute or what?

Princess Diana would be very proud.
